Mint and Yellow #1

This is the first installment of my "Mint & Yellow" seris
and
Oh Wow!!! I am soooo Loving this layout!!!
it just feels so happy when I look at it, very peaceful!
I wish you could see it in person, it is even better!
I just smile when I look at this....
what do you think?

I used foam pop up adhesive to make the letters stand out

This is my Favorite picture!
I altered the photos by fading them out
I first tried them in black and white, but it was just too harsh!
The faded look really helps keep the light and airy feel to the layout.

Painting this metal decorative brad white was a must!

I really do love how raising up the letters gives the page a great depth,
even though it's a little detail, it really pops!

I plan to show you more mint and yellow layouts,
but I have had a busy week and plan for another next week
Hope this one will keep you happy for a bit!
It's going to have to for me too!
I really want to play!!!

Hello Yellow

I am in Love
I am totally in love with Yellow.

I have been for a while,
but you know who loves yellow more than me?
 Mint that's who!yep aka "seafoam"
Oh yeah, when Mint was introduced to Yellow...
it was Love at first sight,
and they are perfect for each other!!!
But this is not your baby pastel colors we're talking about!
No, this romance can be Sophisticated, Bold, Fun and Flirty,
You just have to put the right Shades with it!

be Bold and add Black or Grey
You can soften it up with a lighter shade of grey too

So, what do you think?
I am going to show you some scrapbooking pages with these
wonderful colors.
ASAP

What they are not done Yet?
Nope! sorry, don't hate me.
I just wanted to give you a taste of what I'm working on!
and What inspires me!

So, tell me what you think do you love mint and yellow?
What combination of colors would you like to see?
If you're on the blog leave a comment and let me know,

First and Last Pages of my books...

I am a list person! If you are one too then you understand.
If you are not, then here's a quick run down of how it goes.
When I have a list I get things done.
I cross off the many tasks that need to be accomplished and Life is GOOD.
Without this list I get nothing done,
I twirl in little circles until I'm dizzy, or see something shiny!
I so love shiny things.   aahh.

Okay, so I needed a new scrapbook to do list (the other one ran away).
So, where to begin?
I knew I had a few things in some books that were not complete,
(yes I do that too) the I'll journal that later syndrome.
while looking through all these books (eleven). I noticed a bit of a trend.

I hardly ever make a first or last page of my book!   WHAT!  Yeah,
HI, My name is Ashley,
and I have a hard time making a first and last page of ANY scrapbook.
 There I said it.

NOW how to fix this problem. it starts with you guessed it, a LIST...
I made a list of all the pages I needed and the year

then I went through some pictures,
you know the ones you get large prints of and then never use them
or a few that I always wanted to make a page for
but for some reason was not inspired enough to do so.
and I listed those pics with the year.

See where I'm going here...

Yep, just matched them up and started scrappin'
Here are a few of my now finished First and Last pages...

what's so great about these pages is that you can usually make some good use of scraps! because you are only created a single page.

Sometimes, you didn't take very many pics and it's not enough for a two page layout
but, guess what it's perfect for a first or last...

again all I used were scraps on this page! WOW!

Okay, confession, this is a page I actually already had done, but I had to share with you!
It really shows how you could use random pics to create a page!!!
I added some of the things I like or what I was doing at the time into little strips of paper attached with brads
It is a great way to fill up a page when you only have a few pics!

I just loved this one of me, but it was so small and it was just a stray picture someone took
perfect for this page!

maybe this will inspire you to make a list and finish some unfinished pages!  Or at least give you an few good ideas for how you can make First and Last pages of your Scrapbook!

Happy Heart Day

I've never been one to decorate for the holidays, except Christmas.
Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of holidays, Valentine's is one of my fave's
Come on who could not love a day all about love and chocolate

So, I've been playing around with banners.
I made one for Christmas I'll show you another day
But today I want to show you the banner I made last night, spur of the moment in honor of heart day...

the background shape looks black in the pic but it is a really pretty dark grey
I found this card in my scrap stuff and thought a vintage look was awesome!
I used glimmer mist red on the hearts and letters, but it just wasn't enough sparkle
so I used loose glitter
How do you attach loose glitter you may wonder...
My first go to for this project would be to use spray adhesive all over the letters
then transfer to a fresh piece of paper and sprinkle glitter on top. moving quickly
because the glue dries fast.  But...
I am out of spray adhesive -argh!!!
and it was one in the morning. and I am so not running to wally world
in a snow storm for glue (this time)
So, I busted out the best glue EVER
Scrappy Glue
Spreading glue and sprinkling glitter one letter at a time
Then I found this old vintage postcard of Paris
and had to use it!!!

I thought about using more embellishments, but sometimes less is more....
hope you like it
and have a wonderful Day of LOVE!

page on the wall and alterd art

Sometimes it takes someone else to tell you what you need to do.
But I am so excited sometimes to start a new project that I forget to take a before picture.
So, imagine this picture with just a plain dot pattern and
two folded flowers in opposite corners(that didn't match my decor).
Well, my sister made a passing comment "I'm surprised you haven't remade that yet"
and that's all it took...

I had to alter this picture to match.  Actually it inspired the main picture
then I added the flowers, ribbon,  birdcage stamp, and chipboard stickers

here is the way they work together on the wall by my front door.
I really love it!
Now I need to make one with a picture of Logan.
