Altered Art Dresser

Hello All! Well, it worked. I put my list out there and now
I am so excited to get things done and share them with you.
Yes, I know right now it seems like they are more decorating projects,
but I always seem to need scrapbook paper somewhere in my projects!
Here is the latest, and I even took pictures as I worked this time!
Hope you like it as much as I do.

But First, A reminder of what it looked like when I started.

And Here is my lovely new Dresser, that I LOVE!!!

When I started this piece, I wanted to paint it all black,
but that was just way too dark, so
I wanted to come up with something to lighted it up a bit.

Scrapbook paper is only 12" wide, so that means I would have to have
seams along the drawer fronts.
That was just not the look I wanted, so I got to thinking,
"How would I avoid the seams when I scrapbook large frames?"
by covering the seams with torn paper or ribbon.
So, I got to work tearing paper...
What paper would look best? I started laying it all out to help me decide.
I just did not have enough of the right colors, so off to Crafty Paradise I went.
And as soon as I walked in the door... there it was
the perfect combination of colors, and patterns!!!! wooo hooo!

Then I modge podged my little heart out! and only messed up once.
Lucky for me I over buy in paper... the only thing left to do was add drawer pulls.
You know what that means... another trip out, this time to Hobby Lobby
only the BEST place to get knobs, and pulls, and hooks, and
almost any awesome decorating do dad like that!!!
After debating and talking with my sister on the phone
while standing staring at all the options... here is what I picked...

The little ones for the smaller drawers on top, and the larger for the ones on bottom.
One more time for the finished piece...

I am sooo happy with the way this turned out! And I would love to hear from you too!! comment

I Can Sew!

Even though I didn't blog much in Dec. I still worked on a few projects!
I was all prepared to do a great tutorial on the new stockings I made!
I even took the before pictures! I know, I always get to excited to make a project,
and forget the before pics. This time I did it, but can you believe
I can not find the pics anywhere!!!
So, you just get the finished project! hahahh!

I bought shirts, from goodwill and made new Christmas Stockings!
It was so much fun, and a little frustrating, but I did it! and love it!
What do you think?

When I found this little red dress, I knew the fabric was perfect for a stocking!
and the green with little white polka dots was just tooo sweet!

This one is Logan's, he wanted to make sure it was not girly at all!

Okay, so honestly, I was down to the day before Christmas Eve,
and Had to get this one done.  I rushed it a bit, but I still like it!

Hope you enjoyed this fun little project!

Where the heck have I been lately!!!

Wow, has it really been almost a month since I posted?  I am soo sorry.
Things have just been busy around here!!!  We went to Florida to visit my Dad.
My sister in law had her twins! A boy and a girl.  My Grandmother passed away (my dad's mom).
We made another trip to Florida.  Lots going on.  And there is so much I want to share with you.
I can hardly decide what to share first.  So, I think I will start with what I have started with.
Sometimes, when I am really emotional I have to start creating with projects that don't matter to me so much
on an emotional level.  I worked up to making a memorial page for my grandma.  I will share it soon.
and now that I am done with it, I want to move on to the twins page. It will be special.
To get the creativeness going...
I altered my bulletin board to look like a scrapbook page.

The one thing I did differently than I have before, is make mats (like you would have for a picture).
You pin your notes just on those spots.  This keeps the whole thing looking nice and not completely covered in crazy layers of papers all over the place. Not to mention the fact that when you keep putting pins all over the place you get holes in the paper all over, which gets ugly after a while.
The mats with the lines on them I placed a piece of clear contact paper over it,
and ta-da it becomes a dry erase spot!!! clever I know!
I still want to put a few more things on it. like along the top edge in the green border I want to put a favorite quote, but I need to pick a favorite quote first! How bout you all share your favorites here!!!
that would be so fun!

Okay I can't wait to show you my new A tooo so here it is
I found this frame at micheals for $1 can you believe it! Score!
It is a 7x7 frame, and the pink is fuzzy!!!
I cut out the letter A with my pazzle. then a circle with green and roughed the edges.
layers of flowers with crystal brads. what a great addition to the collection of A's

Because I had nothing better to do...

Well, I have an endless list of things I want to
get done, scrapbook, redo, clean, refinish, sew, cook,
OH wait - I don't cook!! ha ha I just got carried away.
Anyway, I have lots of things to do,
but I got this crazy creative idea.
You know like the kind of idea where
the light bulb goes on over your head!!!
I really mean it, if you were standing next to me
you would have seen it for yourself!
Okay, so I know you are dieing to know what the idea is,
but a little back story first. he he he.

I have been redoing the teeny tiny kitchen in my house
for a while now (NO STILL NOT DONE).
and I picked out these all red glass spice jars
for the glass shelf spice racks I installed a while back.
Okay I am not a cook, so why do I care about the spices?
Well, I like things to look pretty.

and this is what it looked like before

You can see why I felt the urge to make it better.
but these jars were not on the need list
or even high up on the want list
mostly because they were gonna cost me a pretty penny
and by that I mean like $100 for how many I needed.
I know craaaazzzy.
So, no I do not have them. but i do have paper........

so, this is what they look like now!!
What do you think?

I just made labels and cut them out with a circle punch
then glued the paper and label on.
finally, so that they don't get all nasty from cooking
I wrapped clear contact paper around all of it.

I make the labels smaller for these little jars at the bottom
I had to buy about 12 red pepper seasonings to get all the red lids
and only 4 sheets of paper
I used scrappy glue to make sure it stuck!
So, total cost about $16
How awesome is that!!!

My? New Room

I totally love this new space. It's perfect! and everything is within reach and organized.
ya know how much I love to obsess about being organized. Even if it's only in my dreams! ha
Hope you love the room too!

I have been collecting letter A's for a while, and have been given many as gifts.

I have been working on my new room for what seems like forever! There always seems to be more work the more we do! So, it took a bit longer than I thought. Nowt, here is a few before pics...
Sorry a bit blurry, but you get the idea. Oh yea, this is after I cleared out a ton of stuff. This used to be my woodworking area / Hubby's paint ball stuff (not a good combo)

I convinced Hubby to move the heat duct from the center of the room to the edge, and we boxed it in.

I had to completely redo the shelving units we built for the shop, and cut a few off at the knees to make them fit under the window. The Hot Pink bookshelf is my absolute Fav!!!

I still have to organize the counter top space with a shelf for the big printer, and my wall of "A"s.

here is the finished room!!!!

I have actually only scraped a few times since it was done.  Paul and the kids seem to be in here a lot.
Not that I am complaining, they are welcome anytime!  I'm glad they love "the room"
(not "my room" anymore).
